ADALGISA CHAIB
I was born and raised in Brasília - DF. Passionate about the Cerrado since childhood, I studied agronomy at Uiversity of Brasília, always thinking about how to value the biodiversity of this biome through the dissemination of knowledge, the use of native plant species, and the strengthening of the communities that derive their livelihood from it.
I am a master in botany and I am completing my PhD in Botany at UnB.
My most recent research seeks to understand the responses of tree species in the Cerrado to climate change predicted by the IPCC for 2100.
I have two children and a partner who also love to go into the nature and bathe in waterfalls in the Cerrado. I love hot chocolate with "pão de queijo" and good chat!
THE BOTANICAL AND THE CERRADO OF THE WINDOW OF MY EYES
Which image comes to your mind when you talk about Cerrado? It's interesting how so many people who live in cities located in this biome region don't relate the beautiful waterfalls, rushing rivers, large grassy fields, and tall, forested trees to the Cerrado biome. That's right, o Cerrado is not just made up of low and crooked trees!
In my first semester of Agronomy at the University of Brasília, I was amazed when, when studying plant morphology, I was able to perceive the great variety of species that surrounded me! It is not as clear as distinguishing a bird or any other animal. Perceiving plant diversity requires a little more attention, but when our eyes are opened to this universe, another type of interaction with the world becomes possible: botany.
